Facebook to me is like the iPhone. They're adding new applications to it every time I turn my head. So many companies are endorsing or adding a new feature on their site for Facebook connection such as Yahoo. The feature makes it so that with one click, your entire Yahoo contacts database is updated with all your Facebook contacts and all their personal information. Sounds pretty cool to me, since I'm a Yahoo user myself.

There is so much interesting features and developments on Facebook, it's incredible yet sort of creepy at the same time. I personally find myself creeping on friends or other people just to simply do it. There's not really any motive for me doing this, but to just ease my boring state of mind. Pathetic really, however I know that I'm not the only one. Yall know who you are!

I think this comic strip perfectly describes what Facebook is used for. Absolutely NOTHING!

Facebook has demonstrated a willingness to push the boundaries of user privacy. The constant sharing of photos, statuses, and ideas on Facebook is fun, but at the same time scary. Yes, you are showing your friends your personal information, however future employers could check what you posted on a certain day and if it was inappropriate then your future could be at risk.

On the other hand, businesses are not the innocent non-Facebook users. According to Network Box, 6.8 percent of all the URLs accessed by businesses goes to Facebook and 10 percent of internet bandwidth goes to Youtube. The study analyzed 13 billion URLs accessed by businesses and studied business bandwidths to find results, and found Facebook and Youtube leading other companies like Google and Yahoo.

7 times out of 100, the site visited by an employee at an average business is Facebook. The study didn’t look at time spent, but Facebook is the site on the web with the highest time spent per user, and surely this means that users may be browsing and stalking during extended breaks during their work day.

Facebook continues its technological advances with human kind quickly becoming addicted to the new stalking craze.

This post will be dealing with Facebook being so addicting.
I have a lot of friends that will stay on Facebook for hours at a time. Wherever there's a internet device, people are on Facebook.
There are times where I'm in class and I see other students not paying attention and are caught up in Facebook. Now I'm not bashing Facebook by any means, but I am just pointing it out that people are addicted to it. I know that if I ever get on my computer I immediately sign on and check my notifications.

The addiction from my generation is so huge that we revolve our own lives around it. Such as receiving texts to our phones whenever a someone wants to be your friend or a person wrote on your wall.

Study habits are being altered due to the fact that it takes longer, at least for me, to get anything done. I admit that I check my Facebook first thing when I go to the library and could stay on there for a good hour before I start any studying.

It's a little pathetic to know I can't go a whole day without checking what my friends are doing and what their statuses are, what juicy gossip is going on, or who is FBO (Facebook Official). I believe it is actually pretty funny to know that technology is controlling kids and my generation these days. As an experiment, I tried to go a whole day without using my cell phone, computer, or watching television. The end result was a failure. I could barely go 3 hours without using any technological device.

I guess that shows how much we rely on technology to continue living.

Introdusction to Blog

Hello everyone! I am Julianne Voor or Julie for short. I am a student at the University of Arkansas as a 2nd semester Sophomore. My blog will consist of all of the features and fads of the so popular Facebook.

My first entry will ask the question, "Why is Facebook the more popular than Myspace and other social networking websites?"

In my opinion, Facebook is more popular because of the possible social networks you can join. You are able to find past, present, and future friends based on your current life situation, such as location, schools, or special interest groups. This helps a person feel more accepted in a social environment and gives them the confidence to meet new people.

Also, since January 2009, Facebook ranked as the most used social network by worldwide monthly active users, followed by Myspace.

As I would like to say, Facebook is for the more mature audience in the sense that it establishes who you are as an adult, not as a tween.
